Dal Makhani - My Style


DAL MAKHANI


Ingredients:


Whole black Gram - 200gms

Red kidney beans - 50gms

red onion - 2 ea(finely chopped)

Tomato - 2 ea (finely chopped)

Ginger/garlic paste - 2 tsp

green chilli - 3 ea(finely chopped)

Ginger whole - 1tsp(finely chopped)

Garam masala - 1tsp

chilli powder - 1 tsp

Double Cream - 2 tbsp

coriander - 2 tbsp (chopped)

Seasoning - To taste



Method:

Soak black gram & kidney beans overnight separately

Pressure cook it until nice & soft (can be done together)& mash it

Saute onion & tomato in hot oil & add ginger garlic paste.



Add the green chilli, garam masala & chilli powder & cook till raw flavour worns off.

Add the mixture to the boiled beans & heat it. mix it occasionally to avoid sticking to the pan.



allow it to cook well & add seasoning to taste.

Finally add a touch of double cream & garnish with chopped coriander.



Serve hot with roti or chappathi.

  10. Dal Makhani is a family fav. I make it at least 2 times every month although I try to cut out as much fat as possible. The beauty of the dish is such that even with less fat..the dish still turns out tasting almost equally tasty as with all that cream and butter :)
