ELLU KOZHUKKATTAI RECIPE- TIL SEEDS MODAK-VINAYAGA CHATHURTHI RECIPE
Ellu Kozhukkattai is very famous & flavourful dish which we make every Ganesh Chathurthi.  Coconut sweet Mothagam & Ulunthu Mothagam are also main dishes on that day.I love the flavour of black sesame seed when its roasted .We can replace with white sesame seed instead of Black sesame seed.

Ingredients

Coconut-2 cups

Jaggery-1 cup
Black sesame seed-1/4cup
Cardamom powder-a pinch
Rice-2 cups
salt-a pinch

Method
Soak the rice min one hour & grind with water to a fine paste,the consistency should be a smooth paste.

In a separate pan add in the grated jaggery with 2 tbsp of water & allow  to dissolve & add cardamom powder.
Add in the grated coconut to the jaggery. Allow it to mix & cool.

 In separate pan, add sesame seed & roast it until it crackles & grind to  a course powder.
Add to the coconut mixture.

Ellu pooranam is ready now.


Well using the smooth paste made by the rice flour & apply little oil in hand & make small balls. Flatten them to a thin sheet & fill in the jaggery mix.
Close from all sides as illustrated . Finish it by steaming in pressure cooker for 5 minutes without whistle.
Can be served hot or cold.

KADALAI PARUPPU POORANA KOZHUKATTAI RECIPE- CHANNA DAL SWEET MOTHAGAM - VINAYAGA CHATHURTHI RECIPE

Mothagam is very Famous Neivedhyam Recipe on Vinayaka Chathurthi Recipe. Thengai Poorana Kozhukattai or Ulundu Kozhukattai are also 'Neivedhyam' for Lord Ganesh.

Ingredients

Splitted channa dal-1 cup
Jaggery-1 to 1.5 cup
Coconut-1/2 cup
Cardamom-2 no
Rice-2 cups
Sesame oil-1/4 cup
Salt- a pinch

Method

Soak the rice min one hour & grind to a fine paste.
Heat the pan add 1/4 cup water, 1 tbsp sesame oil, little salt , ground rice paste & cook well.
Take the pan dry roast the channa dal & add the water & allow to boil until soft.
Make it cool & drain it.
Take a blender cooked channa dal,coconut ,cardamon, & grind to a fine paste.

Heat the pan, add the ground paste, jaggery & allow to cook until soft think mixture.
Take a rice flour & make a small balls & make like a cup and fill the paruppu pooranam & cover it as shown.
Make all the mothagams & steam it for 5 min in a pressure cooker without whistle.
Mothagam is ready now .

Aadi perukku is eighteenth day of month of Aadi. We call it pathinettam peyar & pathinettam perukku. Pathinettu means 18 in Tamil. Perukku means Rising.
Here the recipes of Adi perukku.
Aviyal or Mor Kuzhambu ,papad & vadagam are also  best side dish for these rice.
Sometimes it will be added with Methu vadai or Paruppu vadai.
